Type: Rear Extension and Loft Conversion.
Brief: This project, now complete, was a single storey rear extension and loft conversion to a terraced property in East Oxford. The property is victorian in era and was originally set over 2 floors with a modest rear garden. At ground floor, our clients wanted to make significant alterations to the rear of the property to create an open plan kitchen / dining / living area. This space, while being modern in finish and feel, was to complement the existing property, providing a very light and aery room with views and access to the garden. Timber bi-fold doors open from this space onto a new patio area. In addition to these works, a full loft conversion was also carried out in order to create an additional bedroom with en-suite facilities. The new dormer was to appear a stark contrast to your average box dormer and as such lead cladding is provided around carefully proportioned window and door openings. Surface water run-off from the dormer is deal with near the ridge line of the main propery to the side, to avoid seeing unsightly guttering and downpipes when viewed from the rear.
Build Cost: Estimated at £175k.
