Residential Extension Commission:  Westminster, London

Client: Private Client.

Type: Rooftop Extension.

Brief:   This project, now complete, was a single storey rooftop extension to a terraced house in Westminster, London. The existing property, dating from the 1960’s, was set over 4 floors with a dilapidated extension on the roof. Our clients wanted to replace the old extension with a contemporary addition that would not only compliment the existing property, but sit well within the conservation area within which the house stood.

In order to comply with planning restrictions, the extension was lead clad with aluminium doors and windows finished in a dark RAL colour. Of particular importance to our clients was that the outside terrace area should appear a near seamless extension to the internal space. For this reason internal floor tiles were carefully specified so that they could be matched externally with a laminated patio tile.

Build Cost: Estimated at £100k.

Status: Completed June 2013.
