Residential Loft Conversion Commission: Headington, Oxford, Oxfordshire.
Client: Private Client.
Type: Loft Conversion.
Brief: This project, now with planning approval, is to be the conversion of an existing loft space of a detached house in Headington, Oxford.
The existing property, dating from the 1930’s, is set over 2 floors with a contemporary extension recently added to the front. Our clients want to create a large master bedroom area by converting their existing loft. Due to problems of overlooking, only high level roof lights are proposed to light the space along with a new window in the gable end wall offering views down the garden. In order to retain as much storage space as possible, the eaves of the loft are to be boarded out and access hatches provided. The existing chimney that runs up through the space is to be retained and used to sub-divide the space to provide a small private sitting area at one end.
Build Cost: Estimated at £35k.
Status: Building Regulations Conditionally Approved.
