Client: Private Client.
Type: Residential extension.
Brief:
This project, completed in February of 2007, was a large extension to a medium sized, semi-detached, rural family home.
From the outset we knew that we would have to completely rework the back of the house, adding a dining space, to make the house work as a modern family home. Another problem was that access to the property was provided from the rear and as such there was no formal entrance hall to welcome you into the house. To address this, a new entrance hall was provided at the rear of the property, effectively flipping the layout of the house and providing a core space from which one could access all areas of the house. Access to the first floor was also a problem, with the existing stair located at the front of the house accessed from within the main living room. This stair was re-provided within the new entrance hall giving access to the new master bedroom above. External materials were chosen to match existing.
Build Cost: Unknown.
Status: Completed February 2007.
